Gathering Blue

Postby christina on Thu Aug 25, 2005 11:16 am

Gathering Blue is the title of the companion novel to The Giver. I just read it and would like to know if anyone else has. Gathering Blue seems to be the exact antithesis to The Giver in many ways.

To name a few:
    the main character is female
the society is in disarray instead of perfect order
    the ending
    etc.

Anyone interested in reading it and discussing it?

I've never heard of it. Is it by the same author? Was it worth it?

Same author. Related book, hence the "companion novel" title. Worth it.

You're welcome. There is also a third book which connects characters from the other two. It is called The Messenger.

Have you read that? Is it worth it?

If you own Gathering Blue, might I borrow it off you some time?

We checked ours out of the county library. Sorry about that, Dave.

Administrative Note:

I moved Dave's reply to this topic to the Site Help and Sandbox forum, because the major relevance in his post was a site suggestion. I did this to try to help this thread stay on the topic of Gathering Blue.

Thank you,

Paul
